Talk by Vanessa Jones
Vanessa Jones  is the archivist of Lancaster-based textile firm Standfast & Barracks which has  been at the forefront of innovative textile design and manufacturing for almost 100 years.

Vanessa will give an overview of the history of Standfast & Barracks and changes in the firm’s textile manufacturing techniques, from 1924 to the present day. Vanessa will also highlight the company’s archive and discuss how this inspires current creative processes – including working with students from UCLan in Preston.

Standfast & Barracks has been at the forefront of innovative textile design and manufacturing for almost 100 years. The site was once part of Morton Sundour Fabrics Ltd. Now it works with brands all over the world using its extensive archive to inspire the creation of new designs.

Vanessa is a researcher and curator who has worked at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Charleston Trust and the Museum of Farnham. At Standfast & Barracks Vanessa looks after textiles and works of art on paper, dating from the 1770s to contemporary designs.
