The Quest for the Perfect Shirt

Saturday 28 April
10.00am - 4.00pm

Take your own tour around the Harris and then come and talk to artist and tailor Richard Bliss about what you think makes a perfect shirt.

Artist and tailor Richard Bliss is on a quest to make the perfect shirt, and he is bringing his shirt-making project to The Harris.

The Quest for the Perfect Shirt (questforperfectshirt.com) is a project that explores masculinity by making shirts in public.  The project has been supported by Arts Council England.

Richard has been travelling the country, talking to men and women about shirts; what shirts they like, how shirts should be worn, what messages shirts send out to the world.

Using these conversations as his starting point, Richard is creating shirts that are being exhibited in museums, galleries and at pop up events all around the country.

Take your own tour around The Harris and then come and talk to Richard about what you think makes a perfect shirt.  Maybe you’ll be inspired by a shirt in a painting or perhaps an object in the museum has sparked your imagination?

This event is part of a programme created by artists invited by Lubaina Himid. For more information on the events and artists involved please visit intoabettershape.com
