Volunteers Family Activity and Reminiscence

Interested in finding out more about how museums and libraries work and could spare some time to help us to continue our work? Join our volunteer team at the Harris. We are currently recruiting Family Activity and Reminiscence Volunteers.

Family Activity Volunteers - to assist with the delivery of workshops and/or activities for children: helping to set up and clear away materials for sessions, participant signing-in, and providing feedback to staff on activities.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the following family activity sessions:
Hands On (First Tuesday of the month)
Scent Bottle Treasure Hunt
Potter's Apprentice
Arty/Time Explorers
We also have one-off special events.
Reminiscence Volunteers - to be part of a small team that delivers reminiscence sessions to older people offsite within the community at homes, hospices, hospital and Dementia Cafes. You will always be one of a pair with another reminiscence volunteer.
The role will include: Helping to maintain the themed reminiscence boxes; getting the themed boxes ready for use; collecting and dropping off the themed boxes back at the Harris; making your own way to the venue offsite where you are delivering the session; liaising with staff at the Harris and the venue offsite; stimulating discussion by using objects from the Harris’ collection as a trigger; attending team meetings at the Harris approximately once every 3 months; keeping up to date with training and best practice.
Training is provided to cover all areas and tasks.
