Painting with Rainbows: Michael Foreman

Michael Foreman as a boy

9 July – 6 November 2016

Michael Foreman has been creating well-loved children's books, as both illustrator and author, for over 50 years. This popular exhibition makes a perfect family day out in Preston.  You can enjoy original artworks, playful props, films, books and family activities that will encourage the whole family to become part of Michael's magical storytelling world.

Learn about Michael's experiences growing up in wartime Britain in his childhood memoir, War Boy, rediscover your favourite characters in Moose, The General, Dinosaurs and All that Rubbish, and imagine yourself in a world without conflict, where friendship is celebrated and the environment is cherished.

Michael's illustrations encourage us to reflect on how we care for each other and the world around us. Don't miss this unique chance to step into Michael's magical world and introduce his engaging, colourful characters to a new generation.

Why not enter our competition and unleash your inner artist? Have fun illustrating your own characters and pop them into the Painting with Rainbows exhibition postbox. The competition is open to all ages and there are beautifully illustrated books to be won each month. To find out more just download our exhibition leaflet or pick one up from the gallery.

Look out for family events taking place throughout the exhibition.
