Get Your Bearings

Medieval copper bowl

Café Display
Until 18 July 2015

Objects with stories to tell about Preston.  Explore Preston’s historical landscape as you walk around the points of the compass to discover intriguing objects – from a beautiful copper bowl found in the river Ribble at Preston dock, to a jug used at the medieval leper hospital at Maudlands.

The Harris Museum faces west in the middle of a city full of history and stories.  You can travel east to discover a water jug found at the bottom of a well in New Hall Lane, or journey north to see a Roman spear from the fort at Ribchester.

Don't forget that you can see lots more archaelogy from the area in our Discover Preston gallery too.
