7 September - 30 November
Masterstrokes brings you the only chance to see some of York Art Gallery's finest paintings on this side of the Pennines.
The exhibition features work from the past 600 years, from
15th century Italian art to works by David Hockney and LS Lowry.
Dutch landscapes contrast with Walter Sickert's view of Venice and Paul Nash's Winter Sea. A portrait by Hogarth is complemented by EM Ward's Victorian interpretation of Hogarth's Studio.
This is a rare opportunity to experience such a focused, yet diverse selection of oil paintings in the North West - don't miss it!
Other artists featured include: William Etty, Bernardino Fungai, Albert Moore, Sir Matthew Smith, and William Powell Frith.
Enter the Artist's Studio to create your own masterpiece and find lots of activities for visitors of all ages.
